HOW DO I OBTAIN A PARKING PERMIT? Residents of a controlled residential parking area are eligible to receive one (1) residential parking decal for each vehicle operated by each resident. Vehicles used for nonresidents, commuting, or for storage do not qualify for a parking permit. For more information or to apply for a residential parking sticker, call (252) 329-4884. I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH MY LANDLORD. HOW CAN I GET HELP? First, communicate with your landlord in writing and keep records of your communications. Depending on the issues at hand, different resources are available to get your issues resolved. Consult the Landlord-Tenant Booklet for a quick reference about your rights and their obligations. HOW DOES TRASH COLLECTION WORK IN TRUNA? Trash pick-up day in TRUNA is on Mondays (with holiday exceptions). Household garbage must be placed in City-approved rollout containers, which must be placed at the curbside by 6 a.m. on the service day and removed from the curbside to a location behind the front line of the house no later than daybreak of the day following scheduled collection (failure to do this may result in fines). The metal bar on the City-approved rollout container must face the road. Also, there must be 3 feet of clearance between the City-approved rollout containers and any other obstacle. WHAT CAN I RECYCLE? This Pitt County reference guide on the county’s waste and recycling services tells how to properly prepare your recyclables and dispose of other special wastes. Pitt County operates and maintains staffed convenience drop-off sites listed on this brochure. These convenience drop-off sites are for residential waste and recycling only. Click here for guide.
CAN I HAVE AMPLIFIED MUSIC IN MY YARD? Greenville has a noise ordinance that applies to all areas of the city. It applies to the sound generated within an apartment or single property, as well as to amplified stereo sound in automobiles. It applies to indoor and outdoor sound. It also applies to animals that, by habitually howling, barking, or crying, disturb nearby residents. Anyone who wants to exceed the allowed decibel level must apply for a permit. The use of outdoor sound amplifying equipment requires a separate "Outdoor Amplified Sound Permit" issued by the Greenville Police Department. Violation of the City of Greenville Noise Ordinance will result in a $100 citation.Click here to access the application.

CAN I HAVE A FIRE PIT IN MY YARD? The Greenville Fire Department requires residents to have approved fire pits with covers. Please do not burn pallets, which contain toxic chemicals. The phone number of the Fire Department is: (252) 329-4390.
WHAT ARE THE RULES CONCERNING MY DOG? Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times when you are with them outdoors. Please be sure to respect your neighbors by cleaning up after your dog!

CAN I HAVE INDOOR FURNITURE ON MY PORCH OR IN THE YARD? No. Indoor furniture of any kind must be kept indoors. Tables used for games cannot be left in front of the house. They must be stored in the back yard.
HOW DO I DISPOSE OF APPLIANCES AND OTHER BULK ITEMS? If you have a piece of furniture or large appliance you need to get rid of, all you have to do is call the City of Greenville Public Works office to schedule a pick-up. Before you place it at the curb, make sure to call them at (252) 329-4522.
IS THERE AN APP THAT I CAN USE TO REPORT ISSUES? Yes! You can help improve your community and report issues to the City of Greenville using the "City Compass" app or website. This system allows you to report various issues, including trash, minimum housing violations, sidewalk and road issues, and more. Access it here or via your app store.
